Mubarakah Ibrahim, AFAA CPT

Mubarakah Ibrahim is the owner of BALANCE Fitness Studio for Women in New Haven, CT. She is an AFAA Certified Personal Trainer, Fitness Counselor and Authorized Oasis in the Overwhelm® Trainer. She has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show "Thirty-something in America", is a contributing expert to Prevention Magazine on fitness for women over 40, appeared on the covers of the Hartford Current, New Haven Advocate and Chicago Tribune. Mubarakah lectures, promotes and conducts workshops on alternative health, fitness and healthy living throughout the United States.

Adrianne Mayo NASM CPT


Adrianne Mayo is a personal trainer certified through NASM (national academy sports medicine). She began her fitness career NYSC (New York Sports Club) before joining BALANCE Fitness. She is a strong advocate of alternative/ holistic health care and proper diet and nutrition.
Her goal is to educate and empower women to lead a more healthy and productive lifestyle.

cell phone, planner. Tea or water (sometimes both)

Favorite Exercise:
Squats free standing or assisted one legged, they are great for legs body when and they help to develop a strong core/balance

Favorite diet staple:
Some sort of hot cereal and Ginger tea

Carrot Cake -2 SLICES!


April Chevalier, ACSM-HFS

April Chevalier is a certified Health Fitness Specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine, and a second year graduate student in the Exercise Science department at Southern Connecticut State University. She is also a group exercise instructor, teaching a variety of classes, but specializes in cardio kickboxing and indoor cycling. April loves working with people of all fitness levels and is up for any challenge that comes her way.

“One legged, overhead Romanian Dead Lifts because they target certain areas people forget about, including balance, hamstrings and lower back.”

“Chocolate and ice cream are about equal in that department!”




Liz Adams, AFTA  CPT

Liz is an AFTA certified personal trainer, an AFFA certified group fitness instructor and a Madd Dogg certified spin instruction.  She teaches Pilates, indoor cycle, body conditioning and kickboxing.   Her continuing education courses have focused on senior fitness and BOSU training. Liz has an orange belt in karate and danced and practiced gymnastics for more than 15 years. This year, she achieved a long-time goal of competing in her first fitness competition, Fitness Atlantic, and will continue to compete at competitions in the tri-state area this fall.
